City & Guilds Level 3 Certificate in Utility Arboriculture Tree Species recognition, Growth Characteristics, Associated Hazards, Ground Pruning, Aerial Pruning, Assisted Tree Felling
Intensive, academic and practical. This combined course is held in both classroom and woodland, teaching you all the skills you need to become fully operational as a Utility Arb professional.
The training is held over 3 days, and includes:
- Identify tree & fungi species
- Identify growth characteristics
- Identify hazardous trees and branches
- Pre work checks and requirements
- Site specific electrical hazards
- Prune trees safely from the ground in proximity to overhead power line
- Legislative requirements
- Record keeping
- Equipment selection
- Assisted Tree Felling
- Equipment selection and use
- Load estimation
- Planning the felling operation, using felling aids
- Pulling considerations
- Chainsaw checks
- Using holding cuts
- Dealing with hung up trees
- Site Zoning
- Increased training in basic pruning principles
- Different cuts and their uses
- Rope assisted felling techniques
- Climbing techniques essential for aerial working around live overhead lines.
Pre requisites: UA 301, CS 201&202 (previously UA1, CS 30&31)
